How to Download Multiple Files from a List of Links
When working with dozens or hundreds of download links, downloading each item manually wastes hours. Learn how to structure your URL queue, handle browser permissions, and package your downloads effectively.
1. Structuring Your URL Queue
Organize your list by placing one valid URL per line in a standard plain text file or directly into the input area. Avoid appending trailing commas, quotation marks, or extraneous description labels.
2. Browser Multi-Download Permissions
To protect users against unwanted drive-by malware downloads, all modern browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) include an automatic multi-download guard. When a web application initiates two or more file transfers in close succession, the browser will display an alert banner:
"This site is attempting to download multiple files. Do you want to allow this?"
Always click Allow so that subsequent items in your batch queue are permitted to write to disk.
3. Sequential Downloads vs In-Browser ZIP Bundles
- Sequential Downloads: The safest, most universally compatible method. The engine triggers each link with a 700ms pause, allowing the browser's native download manager to handle each stream.
- ZIP Packaging: Our client-side engine uses JSZip to fetch accessible binary files directly into your browser memory and bundle them into a single
.ziparchive. Note that remote servers that block cross-origin reads will prevent in-memory ZIP creation, but will always work via sequential downloads.
4. Exporting Queue Records to CSV
Whenever managing large datasets, click Export CSV List in our Bulk URL Downloader to save a timestamped spreadsheet record of every link and its validation status.
